Snapchat Is Working On A Big Redesign For Its App

Messaging App Snapchat is working on a new big redesign that could reshape its flagship app

According to the photos shared, one is a redesign of the app for Android and iOS that provides a new place for the Snap Map and the company’s original video programming. The other redesign is breaking of the news headlines into the app that includes timely news or occurrence briefs into Snapchat

In a report by Casey Newton in The Interface, the first thing you will notice in the new design is the Snap Map which is accessible by swiping down on the main camera screen on the left side of your chat. The second thing you will notice is the chat section where you can begin a conversation with your friends.

The third is the camera which opens with space for chats to the left. The fourth is the current Snap Discover section, which was renamed ‘Community’, It will feature all the content from people you follow, connections and personal recommendations. The last but not the list is the new ‘Discover’, which would showcase Snap’s original programming, which has seen a significant boost in viewership over the past years.

That is not all, the app is getting a navigation bar, which will allow you to see where you are within the app at a glance. It will also move directly from the screen to screen with a single tap instead of swiping.

Speaking on the new development, a Snapchat spokesperson, “We’re exploring ways to streamline navigation across Snapchat, soliciting feedback from our community to inform future versions of our app. This test’s UI offers more space to innovate and increases the opportunity to engage with and discover even more of what Snapchat has to offer.”
